BBL Photofacial Scottsdale

At Zona Med Spa in Scottsdale, one of the most popular treatments our patients love is the BBL Photofacial. It’s non-invasive light therapy that uses broad band light to target sun damage, redness, and pigmentation for a clearer, more even complexion.

This customizable procedure stimulates collagen, reduces broken capillaries and rosacea, and improves texture. There is little to no downtime and it’s safe for most skin types. Our team of Certified Estheticians customizes each session to deliver radiant, refreshed results tailored to your needs.

In this guide we’re going to share its benefits, how it works, how much it costs, pre and post care steps, and answer some of the most frequently asked questions we hear about it…

How BBL Photofacial Works

A BBL Photofacial is a non-invasive light treatment, also known as IPL Photofacial or BBL (Broad Band Light), that uses targeted pulses of light to break down pigment issues like brown spots, sun damage, redness, and rosacea.

At Zona Med Spa, our Certified Estheticians deliver this via the Sciton Joule device, which passes through the skin to draw out and disperse uneven pigment without harming the surface.

Our Certified Estheticians customize each session to your skin’s needs, whether you’re treating your face, neck, or chest. This gentle treatment is an especially great fit for those with lighter skin tones seeking pigment correction.

During your treatment you will wear protective eyewear and experience a sensation like a rubber band snap. It’s virtually painless and no numbing is needed. Sessions take 45 minutes and have little downtime. Results appear over 4-6 weeks, and we recommend 2-4 treatments for optimal clarity.

BBL Photofacial Cost

Pricing is customized based on the areas treated and your goals. Costs depends on factors like the extent of pigmentation and number of sessions. For most of our patients we recommend 2-4.

For a personalized plan, we recommend a consultation with our team to choose the best option for your skin goals and budget.

Pre & Post Care

To get the best BBL Photofacial results, follow these simple steps…

Before your appointment, avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks. Skip irritants like Retin-A, glycolic acids, or benzoyl peroxide for one week. Stop antibiotics like Tetracycline for 2 weeks, and be off Accutane for 6 months.

Do not wax or use depilatories on the area for one week. Wear SPF 35+ daily. If you have cold sores, let us know for a prescription. Always consult with your primary doctor before making any changes.

After treatment, expect mild redness like a sunburn to last a few hours. Avoid direct sun, hot showers, saunas, exercise, or harsh scrubs for 3 days. Wear SPF 30+ daily, even on cloudy days. Pigmented spots may darken like coffee grounds and slough off in 1–2 weeks. Do not pick at them.

We will also provide a personalized aftercare kit to maintain your radiant results.

FAQ

BBL Photofacial results usually last 6-12 months with proper sun protection. We recommend 2-4 treatments initially, then maintenance as needed for consistent clarity.

You’ll notice improvements within 4-6 weeks as pigmented spots slough off. This gradual “wow factor” is one of the reasons our patients love it so much.

It is safe for the majority of skin types when performed by our Certified Estheticians. We will confirm if you are a good fit during your initial consultation.
