At ZONA Med Spa™️ you have a choice of using a wide variety of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Dermal Fillers. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is found naturally throughout your whole body and acts as a skin plumper. All HA Fillers are completely dissolvable, so in the unlikely event, you didn’t like the results, we can reverse them in seconds. As for what brands we use in the lips, we find that Versa, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Restylane, and Restylane Kysse look the best. However, the differences between them are minimal and the results are almost entirely depended on the injectors skill level. That being said, we’ll recommend a filler based on your individual needs but ultimately the choice is all yours!
Lip fillers naturally dissolve within 6-9 months. This is largely depended on the age of the patient, their metabolism, the amount of exercise they do regularly, and the normal blood flow to the face. For example, someone who is young with a fast metabolism and more blood flow to the face will most likely burn through filler quicker than someone who is older. Filler placed in other areas of the face tends to last longer due to the fact that they are not as mobile as the lips. Think about how much we talk every day!
Lip injections often cause swelling that lasts for about 48 hours. While we do everything we can at ZONA™️ to reduce the chance of bruising, it can happen and should be expected/prepared for. Again, everyone’s downtimes are different, but there are a couple of things you can do to help the healing process.

A Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based injections, Versa is a remarkably homogeneous filler due to the advanced wet milling technology and proprietary formula. This means that the particles are uniquely spherical and uniform, providing the perfect balance between smoothness and volume. Versa has also proven to cause less swelling than other fillers, specifically 24% less swelling in one study. Versa filler can last up to 12 months, however, in the lips, a more realistic timeline is 6 months. Individual results may vary.
HA dermal fillers like Juvederm, work by lifting and restoring the skin’s natural volume and elasticity giving you a more youthful appearance. While the filler can be used to plump up wrinkled skin, fill deep lines, and replace volume in cheeks, it also a great filler to add volume to lips, define lip line, lifting creased skin around the mouth. Results can last 6-12 months, however, in the lips, a more realistic timeline is 6 months. Individual results may vary.
Restylane is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid. Restylane and Restylane Silk are FDA-approved for lip enhancement in patients over the age of 21 and are uniquely formulated to give your lips fullness and definition. Results can last for 6-12 months, however, in the lips, a more realistic timeline is 6 months. Individual results may vary.
Restylane Kysse is a clear injectable gel composed of hyaluronic acid (HA). Restylane Kysse contains HA that has been modified to last longer in the body than the naturally occurring HA. Kysse is the first lip filler with XpresHAn Technology™ for natural-looking volume and Kysse-able softness. In their study 60% of subjects saw an improvement in lip fullness 12 months after treatment! Results can last up to a year. Individual results may vary.
