Thanksgiving Food That Makes you More Beautiful
Make your Skin Glow this Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, and over-indulging in food and drink! But maybe you're not over-indulging? Surprisingly enough, our Thanksgiving meal is stuffed (get it, stuffed, lol) with vitamin-packed foods that can do wonders for your skin and hair. So, fill up a plate (or three!) with these five foods and reap the beauty benefits of your Thanksgiving dinner.
1. Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are an amazing source of beta-carotene, which is an antioxidant that turns into Vitamin A in our bodies. Antioxidants protect our skin from free radicals in the environment and vitamin A deficiency is a huge contributor in dry, dull skin. Not only this, but sweet potatoes are also high in Vitamin C. Vitamin C boosts your body’s collagen production, and one study showed that it can even contribute to fewer wrinkles and less dry skin.
2. Pumpkin
Abundant in Vitamin B3, Pumpkin can lighten dark spots and increase production of both fatty acids and ceramides (both responsible for aiding cell hydration!) To reap these beauty benefits, make sure to get a dish with real pumpkin in it, not canned! Bring on the Pumpkin pie!
3. Cranberries
The classic cranberry sauce, a staple at everyone's table. But did you know that it's loaded with antioxidants, fiber, and vitamin C? Like sweet potatoes, the antioxidants and Vitamin C help protect the body from free radicals and stimulate collagen. Not only that, but they have also been found to help acne-prone skin.
4. Green Beans
Green beans are a veggie that is rich in antioxidants and is also an excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin K, and manganese. Of course, all the vitamins are doing our bodies and skin wonders, but manganese is working hard to keep us young too! The essential mineral helps build collagen and protect from free radicals.
5. Pecans
Packed with healthy monounsaturated fat, pecans have one of the richest sources of antioxidants you can find. With ellagic acid, vitamin A and vitamin E, these antioxidants fight and eliminate the free radicals. Free radicals come from the environment and are responsible for premature skin aging. Additionally, with high levels of zinc, pecans help to maintain healthy skin and hair. Sprinkle some on your pumpkin pie and call it a day!
