My First Time Getting Lip Fillers

If any of you keep up with ZONA Med Spa’s blogs, you already know that we don’t typically write about our opinions or experiences; only the facts about things we find interesting or about services we offer. However, I (Jennifer Litman) just received lip fillers here at ZONA for the first time, and wanted to share my experience in hopes that it will help other first timers feel more comfortable about the process. So, let’s get into it!

It was an ordinary day at work, when all of a sudden I hear Michele Hunter, RN, CANS say from the other room, “Jenn, come here let’s give you lip filler”. As a little lipped individual, I answered with excitement and ran into her room. Let it be known, I have my ears pierced and a couple of little tattoos so I’m no stranger to voluntarily discomfort. I was way more excited than nervous. Michele put numbing cream on my lips and starting telling me about the product she was going to use, Juvederm. Before I knew it, Michele was putting the needle to my mouth.This is the part I’m sure everyone is the most concerned about, the pain. I can honestly tell you that a had almost zero discomfort. I know, surprising, right? As the social media manager here, I have watched clients for over a year receive lip fillers and everyone says the pain is around a 3-5 out of 10 (1 being the least pain and 10 being the most). However, I felt at the most a 1 out of 10 on the pain scale. Keep this in mind though, everyone’s pain tolerance is different and your nerves are the worst of it.

After the injections were done, Michele gave me a mirror to check them out. They looked so good! I finally had lips! Not only did the added volume help me feel more confident about them, but the shape that Michele created looked so natural. She then gave me the rundown of post care instructions and I started icing my lips to help reduce swelling. The swelling lasted about 2 days. The first day they were of course at their biggest, but by the following day they were almost already back to normal post filler size.Overall, my first experience getting lip fillers was amazing. Michele made me feel really comfortable, the pain was non-existent, and the only “down-time” I had was the rest of the day after injections. Because of how thin my lips were to begin with, I honestly already want another syringe.
