Gifting Botox and Fillers – a Growing Trend
Tis' the Season
The holidays are all about peppermint mocha lattes, cozy sweaters, lots of cookies – and for getting Botox and Fillers. Gifting plastic surgery and injectables for Christmas is apparently a big thing. Cosmetic treatments and surgeries increase by about 25% from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve. Even facial rejuvenation treatments end up as stocking stuffers. Not only are facial or injectable treatments a great gift for anyone, Christmas is the perfect time to do something that may involve a couple of days of downtime- no work!
Some extremely popular gifts we are seeing is husbands buying Botox for their wife, mothers buying lip fillers for their daughters, and laser hair removal packages from significant others or family. All three have become “household” terms, so it only makes sense to give a special someone a med spa treat! Now the question might be, are there any rules or etiquette to keep in mind when gifting a cosmetic procedure? Overall, our modern society has become very accepting of medical forms of treatment to improve one’s appearance. However, while some people partake in treatments such as Botox and fillers, they are very private about it- others openly share it on social media. Therefore, everyone’s different when it comes to this sort of stuff. That being said, there are certain “rules of engagement” when it comes to gifting cosmetic procedures.
- Be certain that the recipient actually wants the treatment, otherwise it may be taken the wrong way.
If a loved one, family, or friend has openly shared their discomfort about frown lines and wrinkles than you're most likely in the clear. A direct discussion if the individual would ever “go under the needle” is always a good idea too.
- Keep in mind that a consultation may be needed to determine if the person is a good candidate for the procedure. This is more of the case with invasive type of procedures, laser hair removal, and any kind of more “extreme” facial rejuvenation treatment.
Many people know of friends, family, or significant others who want to experience a renewed sense of confidence due to looking and feeling better. So giving a cosmetic procedure for Christmas can be an amazing gift, just make sure they really want it.
