6 Tips to Reduce Dark Circles and Puffy Eyes
Surefire Tricks to Diminish Dark Circles and Puffy Eyes
If you have dark circles or puffy eyes, you are not alone. Many people suffer from these common conditions and it can be embarrassing and frustrating to deal with. Some factors that contribute to these beauty problems are genetics, smoking and alcohol use, dehydration, lack of sleep, poor nutrition, and many more. A face is, for the most part, the first thing people notice about a person. Thus, getting rid of dark circles and puffy eyes (which often make you look tired or older than you actually are) is very important to people. Thankfully, you don’t have to deal with these problems forever! Here are 6 tips to help reduce dark circles and puffy eyes.
Get Plenty of Rest:
As everyone knows, getting the recommended 8 hours of sleep every night is vital. However, many people still don’t get enough rest. If you have trouble falling asleep, try to relax and make yourself tired with some tea, a hot bath, and no electronics for an hour before bed. If you have to wake up early, go to bed earlier to compensate. Getting plenty of sleep will help your eyes look bright and awake for the rest of the day.
Eat Healthy:
A healthy lifestyle doesn’t only help your figure, it can also help reduce your dark circles and puffy eyes. Replace the junk food for fruits, vegetables, and protein! When growing up you always heard that carrots are good for your eyes, and that isn’t wrong. Carrots are one of the best vegetables for dark circles because they are filled with Vitamin A and Iron. Fruits with Vitamin C, like strawberries and kiwis will thicken the eyelid dermis which in turn will reduce dark circles. Staying hydrated is always extremely important, water keeps the face and under eyes plump. Lots of alcohol will of course dehydrate you, so if you do drink keep in mind you will have dark and swollen eyes the day after.
Protect Your Eye from the Sun:
The skin around your eyes is so delicate and thin that the sun’s harmful UV Rays can be very damaging to the area. Of course, always wear sunscreen. However, if you will be outside for an extended amount of time, wear sunglasses with UVA /UVB protection. This will not only protect your eyes from dark circles, but also prevent wrinkles, fine lines, and crow’s feet.
At Home Treatments:
Just type in “How to get rid of dark circles and/or puffy eyes” in Google and countless of results will show up showing you tips and tricks of at home treatments. One of the most widely known ways to reduce puffy eyes is to apply cold cucumber slices on them. Leave the slices on for about 15 minutes and the swelling should go down significantly. Another way to treat dark/puffy eyes is caffeinated tea bags. Soak two tea bags in warm water, and then chill the bags for a few minutes in the refrigerator. Place one tea bag on each eye for five minutes, and your eyes will feel fresh. When you apply a frozen spoon (or anything frozen really) around puffy eyes, the cold will reduce the swelling and inflammation and probable invigorate you at the same time!
Eye Creams:
The skin around our eyes is the thinnest skin on the body. This area is more prone to dryness and quicker to show age and fatigue than anywhere else. Squinting, blinking, and the constant movement of the eyes also accelerates the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Not to mention, fluids collect under the eyes and causes swelling and dark circles. Eye creams can address some of these issues. There is one medical grade eye cream that specifically helps darkness and puffiness that we really like; Skinbetter Science Daily Eye Treatment. Skinbetter Science Eye Treatment, has a patented technology called InterFuse to deliver large sized skincare ingredients faster and deeper. With ingredients such as caffeine and yeast to help diminish congested eyes and dark circles, this eye cream will have you looking bright eyed and bushy tailed in just a few short weeks!
Dermal Filler Injections:
Last but not least if you are still struggling with dark circles, receiving filler injections in the tear trough area can help you significantly. Dark circles are sometimes simply caused by hallowing under the eyes. Having the skin so close to blood vessels causes them to show up on the skin, creating the appearance of dark circles. Doing a filler treatment such as Belotero, under the skin in the tear troughs (under eye area) will lift the skin up and away from those blood vessels. Filler in the tear troughs is one of the most popular treatments we do here at ZONA Med Spa, you can take a look at our before and afters here.
