6 Things to Consider Before Going Under the Needle
6 Things to Consider Before Going Under the Needle
Injections of neurotoxin and fillers are the most popular minimally invasive cosmetic procedures in the U.S. If you are considering “going under the needle”, there are 6 things you’ll want to think about beforehand.
Who’s the injector?
With so many people offering Botox and other fillers now a day, it’s tough to know who to trust. Make sure to research the injector and check their credentials, this should include where they were trained and how long they’ve been doing cosmetic injections. Another great way to review an injector is to either ask or find (via social media) before-and-after pictures of previous patients.Michele Hunter, RN at ZONA Med Spa is an experienced certified Aesthetic Injector / Educator and licensed Esthetician in Scottsdale Arizona. She has extensive training and experience to ensure you receive outstanding results from your aesthetic treatment. ZONA Med Spa is also present on many social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, where you can see many before-and-after pictures.
Your budget
The term “You get what you pay for” definitely holds true when it comes to cosmetic procedures. All injections vary in prices, however, you’ll typically find fillers in the $500 to $2,000 per syringe price range. You should see it as a red flag if there is a crazy deal, it could possibly be that the fillers are from out of the country. At your consultation, talk to the injector about your budget and discuss if what you can afford or what should be put off so you can have a more comprehensive treatment in the future.Consultations are always complimentary here at ZONA Med Spa!
Your expectations
When thinking about injections, it is very common for people to come in with pictures of celebrities and show the injector what famous feature they desire. However, this isn’t what they need to see. Bring in a picture where you love the way you look, even if you’re in your 20s in it! A picture of yourself will give the injector a realistic reference point and help them figure out how to enhance your own natural features. It’s important to remember that a good injector will not make you look “over done”.Our goal at ZONA Med Spa is to help you enhance your nature beauty without looking overdone.
The product
There are a lot of cosmetic injections out there and its imperative to know which ones are being used on you and why. Even though Botox is a household name, there are plenty of other botulinum type A toxins. For example, Dysport and Xeomin don’t have as much weight as the name Botox, but they all are made from botulinum toxin type A yet have a different amount of accessory protiens. The same goes for fillers. You can choose from Restylane, Juvéderm, and Belotero, all which are composed of the same ingredients, the hyaluronic acid particles are simply linked together differently. Overall, make sure to ask your injector what they are recommending and why.Our injector Michele Hunter, RN is very informative and will talk you through exactly what she is using, what it does, and why that product is the best for you.
Before and after injections
Botox is what they call a “lunchtime procedure”, you don’t need to do anything particular before you go in and the only thing you can’t do immediately after is lay your head down for about four hours or workout the rest of the day. Fillers however, are different. It’s recommended to book your appointment two days before any event or special occasion. This is due to the common side effect of bruising and swelling. It is also advised to stop taking any blood thinning supplements two weeks before injections because they increase the likelihood of bruising and swelling. For pre-treatment instructions visit the services tab on ZONA Med Spa’s website and click on the treatment you would like to receive, everything about that procedure is detailed there. After your appointment, ZONA Med Spa will inform you on post-treatment care.
Result duration
Cosmetic injections longevity depends on: the product uses, how many units was injected, and where it was injected. So result duration may vary. However, as a general guideline, botulinum toxin type A last four to six months and hyaluronic acid fillers last six to 18 months. That being said, you have to be prepared to keep up with the procedures if you like the results. At ZONA Med Spa we unsure you’ll be thrilled with your results!
